Capital Mid-Season Showdown

Sunday Showdown!

We have come to the conclusion of another great tournament at the Bell Sensplex.  The Capital Mid-Season Showdown is now in the history books as a great success.  67 teams from across Ontario and Quebec came together to battle it out for the title of Tournament Champions.

We witnessed some very exciting round-robin games on Friday and Saturday, with games being played at the Bell Sensplex, Richcraft Sensplex, and Canadian Tire Centre (Home of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators). Throughout the round-robin, the competition was fierce and very entertaining.  After every team completed their three games, the divisions we close.  As the round-robin came to a close, only a select few teams could move on to Sunday’s playoff.

Bright and early Sunday morning, the playoff teams arrived at the Bell Sensplex all looking to rise to the top.  We saw almost every scenario possible in the playoffs, ultimately making the games so exciting.  Everything from penalty shots, to overtime, to shootouts, it was truly a pleasure to witness such exciting games across all divisions.  As the day began to wind down, champions were born.  Please help us congratulate all the champions across the eight divisions at the Capital Mid-Season Showdown.

Closing the Door on Another Face-Off Friday!

Day one of the 10th Annual Capital Mid-Season Showdown has drawn to a close and what a way to start! Today’s games featured plenty of excitement as teams began their quest to take home the tournament crown and call themselves Champions. Hats off to the goaltenders today as many of them stole the show, making save after save and keeping their teams in the game; and in many cases, their opponents off the scoreboard. A big thank you goes out to all of our participants for making Face-Off Friday such a big success!

Today’s games brought forth a lot of exciting moments as many players stepped out onto the ice and were nothing less than flawless for their respective clubs.  The tournament has seen some close games thus far, setting the stage for another exciting day tomorrow.

Special mention goes out to Max Nadeau of the Stittsville Rams in the Minor Peewee division who leads the tournament in scoring with six points (2 goals, 4 assists) in two games played so far.

Day Two kicks off bright and early tomorrow morning with all four arenas in action at the Bell Sensplex beginning with the Major Atom division as the Lorne Park Ojibwa take on the Ancaster Avalanche on the Canadian Tire Arena and the Ottawa Sting taking on the Merritton Bulldogs on Palladium Insurance Arena.  Puck drops at 8:00am sharp for both games. With all teams back in action tomorrow, playoff spots amongst all divisions are still anyone’s for the taking.
